camión en bruselas

If you’ve followed our advice in the first part of our guide to moving internationally, you’re already halfway through the process.

You will have already completed the steps of visiting your new city, researching schools in the area for your children, and so on. You are now about to make the move and you only have the last few tips to follow before you make the trip.

That’s why we’ve made this second part, so that you can prepare your international move with just a few days to go and make it a complete success:

Confirm the moving date and time of arrival with the mover once again.

It’s probably already more than confirmed, but it never hurts to make sure everyone is aware of the date and time of arrival. Follow up to make sure everything arrives at the right address and at the expected time.

This will give you peace of mind and make the move a less stressful process.

Take important documents and valuables with you.

Don’t pack valuables, such as jewellery and family heirlooms, with the rest of your belongings. Store them separately and securely so that you can take them with you on the plane. The same goes for important papers and documents, such as identification, certificates, etc., which are very necessary and important when moving to another country.

Pack a suitcase with the essentials

Moving long distance means you probably won’t receive your belongings until at least a week after the move. Most everything will be packed in boxes, making it difficult to find anything when you need it.

That’s why it never hurts to pack a suitcase with a week’s worth of essentials, a hygiene kit, clothes, medicines, chargers, etc.
